Various infrastructure ministries like Telecom, Road Transport, Power and Railways will consider entering into an agreement for sharing infrastructure utilities like water pipes and telecom cables on a non-payment basis.

“The idea is to have an memorandum of understanding to the effect that they will not charge each other for sharing infrastructure as it effectively means government to government payment,” say official sources.

This was discussed in the sixth Group of Infrastructure, which was held under chairmanship of Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.
