The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has on Friday suggested that Goods and Services Tax (GST) at 18-19 per cent will not add to any inflationary impact. “We feel that it should be below 20 per cent,’’ Mamta Binani, National President, ICSI, told newspersons here.

She was here for a national training programme for women empowerment organised by ICSI. The members of ICSI were “doing well’’ as far as GST was concerned, she said adding: “We are hopeful of GST roll out soon.’’ ICSI is ready to train government officials in various aspects related to GST. According to Binani, 60,000 government officials need training.

“We have 69 offices across the country and are ready to involve in initiatives like GST service providers,’’ she added. ICSI will soon approach the United Nations Organisation for observing international corporate governance day to create better awareness.
