To ensure regular power supply to the industrial areas, the Karnataka Government will establish a feeder, according to Mr Murgesh R. Nirani, Minister for Medium and Large Industries, who said this during the question hour in the Legislative Assembly on Monday.
He said that the Government had entered into agreements with power companies, such as National Thermal Power Corporation, to generate 18,000 MW, even before holding the Global Investors' Meet (GIM) in June last year.
At the meet, the Karnataka Government signed memorandum of understanding for projects worth Rs 3.92-lakh crore. About 14 projects have been implemented providing employment to 3,984 persons, and 201 projects are at different stages of implementation with potential to generate jobs for 3.48 lakh people.
The Minister also said that the Government would withdraw the land allotted to industries if they failed to set up projects within two years after getting clearance.
