Delhi's showcase Airport Express Corridor will become fully functional from tomorrow with the launch of two non-operational stations and the operator will allow free travel to defence personnel and freedom fighters on the occasion of Independence Day.

Dhaula Kuan and Delhi Aerocity stations, which received the mandatory safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety, Mr R.K. Kardam, on Friday, will be thrown open to public at 12 p.m. tomorrow.

With this, all six stations on the high-speed corridor that connects Connaught Place with the International Airport will become functional, over five months after the Line was opened to public on February 23.

While the New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium stations already allow passengers to check-in their baggage, the new Dhaula Kuan station will have check-in facility which will be operational soon.

The Reliance Infra-led consortium that runs the corridor also plans to extend the service hours from 18 hours to 20 hours soon to enable early morning and late night fliers to use the Airport Metro.

On the occasion of Independence Day tomorrow, armed forces personnel and freedom fighters will be given free journey tickets and other passengers will get souvenirs from these two stations.
