The Eastern Railway has achieved a near 22 per cent growth in earnings to Rs 687 crore in June this year, as compared to the same period last year. In June 2013, earnings stood at Rs 565 crore. According to a release, this is the “best ever June total earnings”.
Earnings from goods rose by nearly 23 per cent to Rs 449 crore in June this year (Rs 366 crore).
Passenger earnings for the June period stood at approximately Rs 183 crore, an 18 per cent increase over Rs 155 crore reported in June last year.
In the April to June period this year, the loading of edible oil improved by 288.35 per cent, public stone by 58.31 per cent, cement by 42.57 per cent, petroleum oil by 39.36 per cent and container by 28.33 per cent, over the same period last year.
