After the Turkish Airways’ aircraft was towed away early today, flight operations on Mumbai Airport’s main runway resumed here this morning with the departure of an Air India flight to Kolkata.
Spicejet flight from Hyderabad SG 403 also landed on the main runway of the airport at 7.12 am, airport officials said.
“The Turkish Airways’ plane TK-740 was towed away at 1.17 am,” airport spokesperson told PTI, adding that the runway was “handed over” to air traffic control (ATC) at 6.51 am for operations.
The runway remained shut for four days after an Airbus 340 (A340) aircraft of Turkish Airlines’ flight TK-740 skidded off the runway at 4.13 am on Friday. Now, the aircraft has been taken to the Air India hangar for repair.
A combined team of engineers from Larsen & Toubro, Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), Air India as well as Turkish Airlines were working together with 200 labourers in shifts since Friday to tow away the aircraft.
