An intercity train between Mangalore in Karnataka and Palakkad in Kerala will be flagged off in Mangalore on November 18.

A press release by the Palakkad division of the Southern Railway said here on Thursday that the train no. 22609 Mangalore Central–Palakkad Intercity Express will leave Mangalore Central at 12 noon and will reach Palakkad Junction at 6.15 p.m.

In the return direction, train no. 22610 Palakkad–Mangalore Central Express will leave Palakkad Junction at 7.25 a.m. and will reach Mangalore Central at 1.40 p.m. These trains will stop at Kasaragod, Kanhangad, Payyanur, Kannur, Thalassery, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur and Ottapalam, it said.

This train will have one AC chair car, four second class chair cars, six second class coaches and two luggage-cum-brake vans.

The inaugural train will be flagged off by Mr Oscar Fernandes, Member of Parliament, at 11 a.m. on November 18 at Mangalore Central Railway station.

Mr K.H. Muniyappa, Union Minister of State for Railways, will be the chief guest on the occasion, the release added.
