The Jammu and Kashmir Government is planning to soon introduce radio taxi service in Srinagar and Jammu, officials said here today.
The Chief Secretary, Mr Madhav Lal, directed transport authorities of the State to engage transaction advisor by September 5 for introducing radio taxi service in the twin capitals, the officials said.
Mr Lal issued the directions during a high-level meeting of officers on Friday, they said. The transaction advisor will initiate the process of preparing and inviting bids in a transparent manner to facilitate launch of the radio cab service.
The Radio Taxi Service, fitted with up-to-date facilities, on operation will be available at the doorsteps to the callers, Mr Lal told the meeting, adding the facility will add modern and new dimensions to the traffic system in the State.
The service will be available round the clock both to the citizens and tourists once it takes off and grows in popularity, he said.
