An Air India pilot Captain J.K. Verma has been arrested in the Capital for allegedly using forged mark sheets to procure a licence.
Sources indicated that the police were also investigating cases against two other pilots from private airlines.
These developments come in the wake of the police arresting a woman pilot of IndiGo for allegedly forging mark sheets for obtaining a pilot's licence.
More under scrutiny
The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is also carrying out a fresh round of checks on about 4,000 pilot licences issued in the last couple of years.
It has examined about 500 till now.
Sources in the DGCA said that the Crime Branch was roped in to investigate the matter as the pilots were applying for the licences with forged mark sheets.
“It is difficult to pin-point the blame on either the airlines or the DGCA as the pilots are committing fraud by bringing forged mark sheets. But we are carrying out a thorough review of the pilots with ALTP licences,” said an official with the DGCA.
