As the Reach 1 of Bangalore Metro Rail between MG Road and Byappanahalli is ready for inauguration, but is waiting for railway safety commissioner's inspection and clearance.

Work on the other routes is on and so far about 71 per cent of viaduct has been completed and 31 per cent of station work and civil works is ready, said a senior Bangalore Metro Rail official.

“The work on the other arms are to ready by 2012 end and will be ready for commissioning by April 2013,” he added.

The Chief Minister, Mr D.V. Sadananda Gowda, and his Cabinet colleagues inspected the ongoing Bangalore Metro Rail works and took a ride from MG Road and Byappanahalli and returned to MG Road.

Expressing his satisfaction, Mr Gowda said this good infrastructure should be utilised by people of Karnataka and not only Bangalore citizens.

The Chief Minister also said he has already appraised the matter with union ministers, when he was in Delhi last week about speedy clearances to this mass transport for the city.

Metro Rail official explaining few achievements of Reach 1 - MG Road to Byappanahalli, said Bangalore Metro Rail has completed oscillation trail, integrated test has been completed, service trial has been done.

“We have also done other tests and trails; have checked automatic train control (ATC). Automatic train supervision (ATS) integration has been completed in addition to automatic fare collection (AFC) equipment installed. Depo equipment has been installed and training of staff has been completed,” he added.
