Long-pending pact: Director (Operations) of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, Mr Mukul Jain, exchanges with Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd, Mr Manoj Joshi, an agreement pertaining to the construction of rail link to Vizhinjam, where a deepwater container transhipment terminal is to come up.
An agreement pertaining to funding the project to the tune of Rs 2,500 crore and another to ensure power supply to the proposed project too were signed by VISL at the function with a consortium of banks led by State Bank of Travancore and Kerala State Electricity Board respectively, in the presence of the Chief Minister Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, the Ports Minister Mr Surendran Pillai, and Ministers Mr M. Vijayakumar and Mr N.K. Premachandran, in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.
