Russian-made civil helicopters operated in India will now have a service centre within the country. Russian Helicopters, part of United Industrial Corporation (UIC) Oboronprom and domestic company, Vectra Group, have formed a joint venture company Integrated Helicopter Services Pvt Ltd to start a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in the outskirts of Delhi.

“The service centre will offer maintenance and repair for the Indian fleet of Russian-made civil helicopters. This will help in a 40-45 per cent maintenance cost saving for these helicopters as they can be serviced within the country. Earlier, there was no such facility and they had to go back to Russia for all maintenance related activities,” said Mr S.B. Prasher, Chief Executive Officer, Integrated Helicopter Services Pvt Ltd.

“Modern day sales of helicopters require a strong after-sales service. We plan to make this centre one of the key elements of our support network for the existing Russian-made rotor craft and for the Mi and Kamov helicopters that will be delivered in future to India and South-East Asia as a whole,” said Mr Dmitry Petrov, Chief Executive Officer, Russian Helicopters.

In addition to scheduled maintenance and repair, the service centre would also provide OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) authorised spare parts. The service centre has also been certified by the DGCA to undertake MRO Act.
