Why not have a separate ministry for logistics? This would encompass all the departments of shipping and road transport. This suggestion was given by G. Raghu Sankar, Chairman, SICCI Shipping Committee at a meeting inaugurated by Union Shipping Minister G. K. Vasan. According to Raghu Sankar, there are at present multiple agencies involved in the logistics sector, including the Ministry’s DG Shipping, TAMP and the National Highways Authority. However, a separate ministry for all logistics-related matters could become a single point of contact, said Raghu Sankar.
