The Andhra Pradesh Government has requested the Centre to speed up work on the proposed manufacturing facility of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) the State.
In a letter to Mr Pallam Raju, Union Minister of State for Defence, the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, said the State had undertaken ‘pioneering' efforts to create conducive environment for the defence and aerospace industry.
Already many prestigious public sector units engaged in defence-related research and production such as Defence Research and Development Organisation and Midhani were present in the State, he added.
“The proposed project of HAL will create employment opportunities to many unemployed youth in the State and also creates potential for the growth of number of ancillary industries,” Mr Reddy said.
The proposed project of HAL would come up with an estimated investment of Rs 4,000 crore.
