The Karnatak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has taken exception to the sudden change in the toll being collected on the National Highway through Belgaum district.
In a release, chamber president, Mr M. C. Hiremath, and secretary, Mr K.D. Kotekar, have strongly condemned the disparity in the toll collected at different booths. While Rs 45 was collected at Hirebagewadi in Belgaum district for four wheelers earlier, now it had been increased to Rs 95 from May 1. However, the toll at Hataragi check-post had been decreased to Rs 20.
“It is not clear on what basis the hike or decrease is being made. And, naturally, it has led to confusion and the general public is put to inconvenience,” they said in the release.
