Parcels and cargo shipments from New Delhi can now reach Europe the next day.

TNT Express, an international cargo delivery services firm with headquarters in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands, has launched a dedicated freighter service between India and Europe to cater to the rising trade volumes between the two geographies.

The B767 freighter service, with a weekly capacity of 210 tonnes, will run five times a week between New Delhi and the TNT's European air hub in Belgium, with a stop over in Dubai on the way back to India.

Shipments depart from New Delhi at the end of each work day and arrive in Europe before the start of next working day, the company said. The return flight allows TNT to collect and uplift shipments from Europe on the same day.

Industrial customers

TNT is targeting customers in industry segments such as pharmaceuticals, electronics and automotive with the new service, said Mr Michael Drake, Regional Managing Director, TNT Asia Pacific. The dedicated freighter service that commenced operations a couple of weeks ago has seen its capacity fully booked, he added.

TNT Express has been witnessing a year-on-year growth of more than 20 per cent in the Indian market.

“The dedicated TNT freighter from India will enable our customers to become even more competitive due to faster factory-to-market lead times and improved efficiency. With frequency of our service, it will now just take one day for shipments to reach Europe from New Delhi,” said Mr Abhik Mitra, Managing Director, TNT India.

The introduction of the India-Europe service is part of TNT's plan to expand its leadership position on Asia-Europe routes. TNT now operates flights to Europe from five strategic locations in Asia including New Delhi, Chonging, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore.
