Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Thursday expanded its network in the global air cargo map, with Turkish Cargo launching freighter operations from here.
Turkish Cargo will operate its Airbus A330-200F freighters, with plans to increase the frequency to twice a week by September 2014.
The service will connect Hyderabad to the airline’s network of 260 destinations globally, in Europe, North & Latin Americas, Africa and CIS countries, through its global hub located in Istanbul.
SGK Kishore, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, said, “The launch of the freighter operations by Turkish Cargo comes as a significant development, as the airport has already seen an increase in freighter operations in the recent past.”
The Hyderabad airport currently manages over 1,700 air traffic movements a week.
