The trade and the exporting community can reap the full benefits of the DP World operations at the Kochi port within the next three months when the final draft of 14.5 meters is expected to be achieved, according to Mr Krishnadas, Chief Executive Officer, DP World, Kochi.

The draft of 14.5 m in the ICTT berth basin is needed for mother vessels to berth at the terminal operated by DP World, he said while speaking at an interactive session organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The turnaround time (TAT) for vessels at Kochi would be the least and DP World operations will be the most efficient with the minimum TAT compared to even advance ports in the world such as Singapore.

He expects a solution to the exemption of Cabotage Law sooner for which he solicited assistance from the Chamber to resolve the issue at the earliest.

The exporting and trading community members also aired their grievances and hoped an early resolution to their problems faced from the DP World.

Earlier, Mr Prathapachandran, President, Indian Chamber of Commerce, Mr Elvis D'Cruz, General Manager - Commercial, DP World, and Mr Prakash James, Vice-President, Indian Chamber of Commerce, spoke.
