Business and tourist travellers from Ahmedabad have a reason to cheer as Gujarat government today announced that from November 14, an international flight connecting Ahmedabad and Abu Dhabi will be launched. While those flights that were discontinued on select international routes including Ahmedabad-London will also be resumed, informed a state government statement.
A state information department statement today informed that as a result of the initiatives taken by state Civil Aviation Minister Saurabh Patel, a high level delegation of the Union Civil Aviation Ministry had visited the State last month.
"During the course of meeting issues related to Gujarat region were discussed including setting up of a sub regional office of Airports Authority of India in Ahmedabad and improving international air connectivity for people of the Gujarat," a state government communique informed.
After a meeting between the senior officials of Jet Airways and Patel, the private airliner had announced to start international direct flight from Ahmedabad to Abu Dhabi from November 14. This, according to Jet Airways officials, would connect Gujarati travellers to 80 more cities globally.
