AirAsia India commenced its operations from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad on Thursday, with one daily flight each from Hyderabad to Bengaluru and Goa.

From October 8, the airline will also connect Hyderabad to Cochin with its 2 daily flights and add 2 more daily flights to Bengaluru.

With the addition of AirAsia India, Hyderabad Airport is now served by 9 domestic carriers connecting 33 domestic destinations; while15 foreign and 4 Indian carriers are connecting the city with 19 international destinations.

Seamless transfer

SGK Kishore, CEO, GHIAL, in a statement said, “With commencement of the airline’s operations out of RGIA, travellers will have more flight options to Goa, Bengaluru and Cochin.”

Another AirAsia group company, AirAsia Berhad of Malaysia is already operating flights from Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur. The presence of two airlines of a same group is expected to open door in future for seamless domestic to international transfer experience at Hyderabad. The airport has recorded a strong traffic growth in its 8th year of operation with 12.5 million passengers, registering a growth of 19 per cent year on year.
