Three persons, including an industrialist, will be awarded honorary doctorate at the 33rd annual convocation of Mangalore University on June 17.
Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Tuesday, K Byrappa, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said that Goverdhan Mehta, National Research Professor, Hyderabad; Shashi Kiran Shetty, Chairman and Managing Director of Allcargo Logistics Ltd, Mumbai; and BVR Chowdari, Executive Director, National University of Singapore, will be awarded honorary doctorate on the occasion.
He said that Prof Mehta is a scientist of international repute in the field of organic chemistry.
Shetty is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Allcargo Logistics Ltd. Allcargo has around 200 offices in 90 countries.
Prof Chowdari is the Executive Director of India Research Initiatives at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The India-Singapore initiative has facilitated the training of more than 1,000 Indian students at different laboratories of NUS, he said.
