The Ministry of Civil Aviation has decided to increase the services of Alliance Air (AA) to Lilabari and Tezpur in Arunachal Pradesh. The decision to increase AA flights has been taken due to no-operation of Pawan Hans Helicopter services to Arunachal Pradesh.

In a statement, the Ministry has said that AA will operate five frequencies a week on the Kolkata-Guwahati-Lilabari-Guwahati-Kolkata sector. In addition there will be two frequencies a week on the Guwahati-Tezpur-Jorhat-Guwahati sector. Besides, there will be one frequency every week on the Guwahati-Lilabari-Tezpur-Guwahati route.

The decision not to operate helicopter services of Pawan Hans was taken in the back drop of two helicopter crashes in the recent past. More than 15 people including the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Mr Dorjee Khandu, lost their lives in the two helicopter crashes.

Alliance Air will be increasing air services to Lilabari and Tezpur with ATR-42 aircraft.
