Manufacture of Kochi Metro coaches commenced today at Sri City manufacturing unit of Alstom Transport India Ltd.
The first train set for the Kochi Metro is likely to delivered by this year end, Elias George, Managing Director, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd, told newspersons at the Alstom facility.
Alstom will supply 25 metro train sets to Kochi Metro.
Bharat Salhotra, Managing Director, Alstom Transport, said the order from Kochi Metro was the second stock contract after Chennai Metro. "This reaffirms our commitment to provide 100 per cent localised, competitive, innovative and high value products for our customers," he said.
