Defence public sector undertaking BEML and US-based Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company on Thursday signed a ‘Certificate of Partnership’ at the Aero India 2019.

This opens up avenues for collaboration between the two companies to explore manufacturing of support aerospace equipment, said Deepak Kumar Hota, Chairman and Managing Director, BEML.

The certificate of partnership was inked by Hota, and Vivek Lall, Vice President Business Development, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company India.

BEML has designed and developed various ground handling support equipment for the HAL’s Tejas LCA project. BEML also manufactures Aircraft Towing Tractor, Crash-fire Tender, aero-bridges and varieties of installation and removal equipment for use in airports.

According to Hota, BEML’s Aerospace Division has facilities for precision machining, and fabrication of exotic alloys. The Division boasts NABL-accredited Metrology, testing and inspection facilities for airborne sheet metal structure and is equipped with CNC router, Elasto form press, solutioning furnace and related assembly infrastructure.

“BEML is exploring global and domestic opportunities and benefit from the offset policy laid down for defence procurement by the Centre,” he added.

The Aerospace Division in Mysuru and the upcoming facility at an SEZ near Bengaluru will take advantage of domestic and global opportunities in the ever-expanding aerospace market.
