In continuation to the statement released by Air India on Dec 3, 2015, Air India has extended the date of the waiver for travel only (on reissuance and date change only) from/to/via Chennai till December 31, 2015. The waiver will be applicable on tickets issued on or before Dec 2, 2015 from both International and Domestic airport.

Passengers booked to fly on Air India to and from Chennai will not have to pay anything for changing their date of travel and getting the ticket reissued.

In a statement the airline said that the waiver will be applicable on tickets issued on or before December 2 this year from both international and domestic airports.

Following the floods in Chennai most domestic airlines had exempted passengers from paying for changing their date of travel and getting the tickets reissued.

With Chennai airport being shut till noon on December 6, domestic airlines are coming forward to help passengers booked to-and-from the city for travel.

Air India had said that it will honour and accept tickets issued by the airline, travel agent or portal for travel to and from Chennai to the nearest airports like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Vishakhapatnam, Kozhikode, Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Kochi, Vijayawada and Tirupati till December 15 without any additional charge. “No cancellation/refund charges will be levied on AI tickets for travel to/from Chennai till December, 15,” the airline said in a statement.

Similarly, Jet Airways has said that its passengers with confirmed tickets to and from Chennai between December 1 and 8, this year will be allowed full refund or complimentary change of booking to alternative dates, depending on seat availability.

Other airlines also followed suit.
