DHL Global Forwarding has inaugurated its first integrated warehousing site in Bengaluru, which will provide both customs bonded and domestic warehousing solutions to its customers, allowing the customers to have GST-registered location at the warehouse.

The site inaugurated on Friday has been built with an investment of ₹7.5 crore.

The GST-ready site will allow importers to import their goods and re-export them or process the goods for domestic consumption.

“After the imported goods arrive, the products have to be sold, for which the clients can have a GST-registered premise at the facility,” Amit Dawar, Director, Value Added Services, DHL Global Forwarding India, told BusinessLine .

China is the only other place where the company has such a facility. The warehouse will help meet the demands from customers owing to the lack of bonded facilities near Bengaluru airport. Dawar called this “an infrastructure investment ahead of the demand being generated” as customers are yet to be signed up for the facility, although, based on market studies f ten large customers, the company has received expressions of interest from eight.

This will be of interest for all industry verticals including automotive, engineering, manufacturing, fashion, apparel, retail and duty free shops, life sciences, healthcare and technology.
