The East Central Railway (ECR) has earned Rs 3,866 crore in revenues during the April-July period this fiscal, a senior railway official said.

“We have registered revenue of Rs 3,866 crore in the first four months of the current fiscal as compared with Rs 3,779 crore in the same period last fiscal, marking a 2.29 per cent growth,” ECR General Manager Madhuresh Kumar told reporters after releasing the new railway time-table.

As many as 949 lakh commuters travelled by trains in the ECR zone in the first four months of this fiscal, clocking a revenue of Rs 785 crore, he said, adding the passenger revenue registered a growth by 12.56 per cent against the earning under this head during the same period last fiscal.

The ECR’s passenger revenue will set a new record this fiscal as the peak season was yet to begin, the ECR GM said.

Highlighting the ECR’s growth as key revenue grosser among 17 zones of the Indian Railways, Kumar said the ECR earned record revenue of Rs 11,067 crore in the last fiscal, which was 9.8 per cent higher than Rs 10,079 crore in 2012-13.
