Normal flight operations between India and Dubai have been affected following the crash of the Thiruvananthapuam-Dubai flight at Dubai airport on Wednesday afternoon.
Jet Airways, IndiGo and SpiceJet cancelled their flights to Dubai scheduled to operate on Thursday. The airlines said this was primarily as Dubai airport has announced limited operations up to August 5.
"In addition, Jet Airways will re-route two Dubai-bound flights to Sharjah and is awaiting slot approval from Sharjah Airport to re-route four additional flights,” the airline said in a statement.
Meanwhile, IndiGo has requested its passengers travelling to and from Dubai to check their respective flight status via customer relations or twitter/FB or on the airline website.
SpiceJet said its flights to Dubai have been diverted to - Al Maktoum International Airport, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and Sharjah International Airport. ``We are arranging alternate mode of travel from these airports so that our passengers can reach Dubai city,” SpiceJet said in a statement.
In a statement, Emirates Airlines said that five passengers on the Thiruvanthapuram flight were brought to local hospitals with minor injuries. "We have dedicated a staff liaison supporting their requirements,” the airline statement adds.
There were 282 passengers and 18 crew on board.
