The public sector FACT is importing 33,000 tonnes of urea from Kuwait. The vessel Star Reliance laden with the cargo is expected to call at Kochi Port by next week.
The company's objective is to distribute urea for farmers according to the demand in view of the ensuing monsoon season. The Union Government's allotment of urea for Kochi Port is being imported by FACT. Of the total quantity, majority of cargo is being distributed in Kerala, a statement issued by the company said.
The company is importing urea after a gap of one year.
