Gangavaram Port has discharged a record 1,56,339 tonnes of non-coking coal from the vessel M.V. Cape Asia.
"This achievement stands out as the fastest discharge rate in the history of any port in India & possibly in the world,’’ Raj Dandu, Managing Director, Gangavaram Port Ltd, said in a release issued here on Friday.
The vessel M.V. Cape Asia with non-coking coal for Hindalco Industries called at Gangavaram Port on April 27, 2016. The entire vessel discharge was completed within 27 hours.
Gangavaram Port, with 9 berths with up to 19.5 m water depth, has handled more than 112 MMT of cargo till March 2016.
