The Global Mobility Summit on September 7 and 8 will have 2,200 participants including government, industry, research organisations, academia, think tanks and civil society from across the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event on September 7. The summit, the first of its kind, will include the core conclave, digital exhibition, Mobility Week with featured events and a variety of stakeholder consultations, according to a press statement.

During the summit state-specific issues would be discussed to come up with an inclusive mobility agenda for zero emission and a world that is connected and has a shared future. Some of the core themes of the event will be: Maximising Asset Utilisation; Comprehensive Electrification and Alternative Fuels; Reinventing Public Transport; Goods and Logistics and Data Analytics and Mobility.

The conclave will see over 30 global CEOs, 100 state officials and foreign delegates and 200 Indian CEOs participating in the event. International representation from embassies and the private sector will include the US, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, New Zealand, Austria, Germany and Brazil.

In the months leading up to the summit, consultations were held across 36 states and union territories, with visiting teams from the NITI Aayog. A Compendium of State Strategies, a Summary Compendium and a Compendium of Global Best Practices will be released on September 7, outlining the results of this consultative process, the release stated.

Around 15 webinars were held with participants from around the world between July 30 and August 3. Further, MoveHack, the global hackathon, saw around 35,000 registrations for coding solutions to mobility problems.

Together, these will help drive the government’s goals for vehicle electrification, renewable energy integration and job growth and also speed up India’s transition to a clean energy economy, said Amitabh Kant, Chief Executive Officer, NITI Aayog, in the press statement.
