GoAir will be moving its operations from Terminal 1B to Terminal 1A at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai Domestic Airport) with effect from July 1. GoAir currently operates 360 flights per week from Mumbai. A dedicated aisle of check-in counters at Terminal 1A shall now be available for GoAir passengers. The airline will also be moving its ticketing office to the new premise.
The airline said that GoAir passengers have been informed about this change through personalised communication and advertising. CSIA GVK on its part will also inform all its passengers through signage, website, social media and other communication material at various passenger touch points across the airport.
Information about the shift will also be disseminated to all taxi and auto drivers operating from the airport. For passengers who erroneously reach Terminal 1B, GoAir and GVK-CSIA staff will be available to assist and a special coach service has been organised to drop them at Terminal 1A, the airline said in a press statement.
Commenting on the development, Rajeev Jain, CEO, Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd. said, “This development will certainly bring enhanced efficiency in managing passengers travelling at GVK CSIA as it would significantly reduce passenger processing time at terminal 1B.”
Giorgio DeRoni, CEO, GoAir said, “GoAir passengers can now expect quick turnaround time from check-in to boarding considering that Terminal 1A will now cater to passengers of only two airlines (Air India and GoAir). With the large passenger numbers that Mumbai Airport caters to, this Terminal change will offer a significant advantage with lesser crowd and fewer queues.”
Ever since Kingfisher Airlines stopped its operations last October, the check-in counter space in Terminal 1A had remained unused.
