Corporate affairs commentator Gurucharan Das, management guru Ravindra Dholakia and three others will join the Air India board as independent directors. With the new additions, the strength of the board will go up to 13.
The appointment of five eminent personalities as part-time directors on the Air India board has been done, “to use their specialised skills and valuable suggestions for achieving the targets set by the Government in the Turn-around Plan and Financial Restructuring Plan for Air India,” the Civil Aviation Ministry said in a statement here on Monday.
The other three independent directors are Prem Vrat, Air Marshal (Retd.) K.K. Nohwar and Renuka Ramnath.
Dholakia is Professor in Economics and Public Systems at IIM, Ahmedabad.
Das has worked as CEO of Procter & Gamble India, besides holding top posts in several organisations.
Vrat is Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Eminence with ITM University, Gurgaon.
Air Marshal (Retd) Nohwar is a military aviator with over 40 years of experience in the field of aviation, while Ramnath is a founder, Managing Director and CEO of Multiples Alternate Asset Management, which manages $400 million of Indian and international capital.
