The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has commissioned an exclusive Cargo Apron, capable of handling Code F ( e.g. Boeing747-8F, B747-400F, Airbus A380 type) aircraft, into service.

The Airport is now positioned as "Pharma Hub" of the country constituting about 70 per cent exports being pharmaceuticals. Dedicated cargo apron is now an imperative to accommodate wide body aircraft to boost and sustain cold chain from shippers’ premises to consignee premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Vikram Jaisinghani, CEO-GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) said, "This Cargo Apron upgradation will help RGIA to conveniently cater to heavy international freighters which require increased pavement strength. Also, the revamped Apron space will accommodate more number of Code-F aircraft, thus enhancing the Cargo apron capacity at RGIA."
