Go Air has cancelled the daily morning flight between Hyderabad-Bhubaneswar-Kolkata from March 15 till March 20 following the Directorate General of Civil Aviation grounding 3 aircraft operated by the airline which have been fitted with the Pratt and Whitney engine.

In addition, the airline has also announced that the daily afternoon return flight on the Lucknow-Delhi sector will also not operate till March 20. The flight leaves Lucknow at 1.05 p.m. reaches Delhi at 2.05 p.m. and after a halt of 40 minutes resumes it flight back to Lucknow where it arrives at 4.05 p.m.

Kochi-Chennai sector

The airline has also announced the cancellation of the early morning flight connecting Kochi-Chennai and Chennai-Kochi flight from March 16 to March 24. The flight which has been suspended leaves Kochi at 5.45 a.m. and reaches Chennai at 6.55 a.m. After a 45-minute halt in Chennai, the aircraft returns to Kochi where it lands at 8.55 a.m.

The airline has also announced the cancellation of the Kochi-Chennai-Kochi flight between March 16 and March 24. The cancelled flight was scheduled to leave Kochi at 12.30 pm and arrive in Chennai at 1.35 p.m. It was scheduled to leave Chennai at 2.05 p.m. and arrive in Kochi at 3.10 pm.

The late evening flight on the sector too has been cancelled.  The affected flight was scheduled to depart from Kochi at 7.10 pm and arrive in Chennai at 8.15 p.m. It was scheduled to leave Chennai at 8.45 p.m. and arrive in Kochi at 9.55p.m.

Kochi Bengaluru sector

In addition, the daily Kochi-Bengaluru-Kochi flight has been cancelled from March 16 till March 24. The cancelled flight was scheduled to leave Kochi at 9.25 a.m. arrive in Bengaluru at 10.25 a.m. and after a 30-minute halt leave for Kochi where it was expected to touch down at 12 noon.

IndiGo cancellations

Meanwhile, IndiGo on Wednesday cancelled 44 flights. This is the second day running that the airline has been forced to cancel flights following the Directorate General of Civil Aviation asking IndiGo and Go Air to ground 14 Airbus A-320 new engine option aircraft fitted with Pratt and Whitney engines.

On Wednesday the misery for flyers was compounded by the fact that Vijayawada airport reported low visibility which meant that flights to and from the southern city were getting delayed.

On Tuesday, IndiGo had cancelled 37 of the over 1,000 daily flights that it operates while Go Air cancelled 18 flights of the over 250 flights that it operates daily.
