IndiGo will begin services from India to China this year, Willy Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo, said on Wednesday. " (China) A big opportunity that India is missing. We are determined to operate to China" Willy said adding that the airline plans to operate 14 flights between India and China.

Willy was speaking at the India Aviation Summit organised by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation. He pointed out that at the moment there were 47 flights between India and China of which 42 flights are operated by Chinese airlines while Indian carriers operate 5 weekly flight.

The announcement comes weeks before IndiGo starts operations to Istanbul from Delhi in March this year. The start of China flight will be the second long haul flight operation which IndiGo will have. The airline official said that IndiGo will offer 222 seats on the Airbus 321 being used to operate the Istanbul flight instead of 240 seats so that the passenger is more comfortable on the long flight between Delhi to Istanbul.

Talking about the Vijaywada to Singapore twice a week flight operated by IndiGo is doing well. "We are filling the flight pretty well. That is the India story," Willy said. He also indicated that IndiGo will also look to fly the Airbus 321 aircraft in the domestic skies specially in slot constrained metro cities.
