Kakinada, with its rich agricultural hinterland and developing port, has a great potential to develop into a major industrial and trade centre, according to Ms Katherine S. Dhanani, the Consul-General of the US, Hyderabad.
She was interacting with the members of the Cocanada Chamber of Commerce here on Tuesday. She promised all help to the local trade and industry in establishing ties with their US counterparts. She said there were 150 trade facilitation centres in major cities of the US and the members of the chamber could obtain information from them, she said.
Mr D. Surya Rao, president of the chamber, appealed to the Consul-General to take note of the trade and commerce bodies in tier-two cities such as Kakinada in sponsoring trade and business delegations. It will help in the growth of joint ventures.
Representatives of Reliance, RAK Ceramics, NCS Industries and other companies participated in the interactive session. Later, she visited the JNTU-Kakinada. Vice-Chancellor Mr A. Appa Rao welcomed her and explained the programmes of the University.
