Several new electrical multiple unit (EMU) trains will be introduced between Varanasi to Sultanpur and Sultanpur to Lucknow, a railway official said here. The trains will be introduced within this year on the two lines, Mr J S Sondhi, Zonal Railway Manager said here on Sunday.
“The process of double line and electrification on the Lucknow-Sultanpur and Varanasi-Sultanpur railway blocks is also going at a fast pace, in order to complete the project by 2012,” Mr Sondhi said. These EMU trains will require high-level platforms to run. The Railway Board has set aside Rs 38 crore to increase the height of the platforms, he said.
