Marg Karaikal Port has registered a 26 per cent growth in cargo volume during 2011-12.
The private port of the Chennai-based Marg Group handled 6.01 million tonnes for the year ended March 31, 2012 against 4.75 million tonnes handled during the previous financial year.
One of the major factors for higher growth was increased volume of clean cargo such as fertiliser, whose volumes nearly doubled in comparison with the previous financial year, the company said in a statement.
