Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) has recently been certified with International Railway Industry Standards (IRIS) in accordance with ISO (International Standards Organisation)/TS 22163:2017.
RWF, in a release, said IRIS certification is for design, development and manufacturing of cast wheels, forged axles and assembled wheel sets.
“This qualifies RWF to enter the European market. A certificate to this effect was awarded after methodical investigation and assessment,” said the RWF release.
RWF has become the only production unit of Indian Railways which is certified for both AAR QA-5000 (American Association of Railroads) and IRIS-ISO/TS 22163:2017 and is perhaps the only unit having IRIS certification for cast wheel production.
