South Eastern Railway during the first eleven months (April 2016 to February 2017) has seen a near 11 per cent rise in freight loading to 133.80 million tonnes. For the corresponding 11-month-period last fiscal this number stood at 120.87 million tonnes.
According to a release issued by SER, this is 3.73 per cent above the target set by the Railway Board for the period under review.
During the first eleven months of current financial year, loading of iron ore was to the tune of 77.84 million tonnes, a growth of 16.72 per cent compared to the same period last year.
South Eastern Railway has generated freight earnings of Rs 10059 crore (apprx) during April-February period, an increase of nearly 8 per cent.
