Bangalore Division of South Western Railway's earnings is up 18 per cent at Rs 345.04 crore in the first four months of this financial year (FY 2011-12) against the same period last year.

According to Mr S. Mani, Divisional Railway Manager, Bangalore Division, the division has attached 1,402 extra coaches and ran 833 special trains to clear extra rush and to meet the day-to-day requirement of passengers. For easy availability of tickets, nine Jansadharan Ticket Booking Sevaks have been appointed to issue unreserved tickets to travelling passengers.

Whitefield, Mandya, Bangalore Cantonment, Hindupur and Penukonda Stations have been modernised and upgraded to the status of model stations with desired amenities.
