Booking train tickets at the last moment is set to get costlier, with the Railway Ministry deciding to allow Tatkal charges on passenger segments to go up based on demand. The Railways has increased Tatkal charges from December 25.

The segment that will not see any increase is the second class sitting segment.

In November, the Railways had doubled ticket cancellation charges.

While cancellation fee of second class confirmed ticket in 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train will be increased from ₹30 to ₹60, the third AC ticket will cost ₹180 against ₹90 earlier.
