The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd - Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is making use of the Railways to promote the brand value of its products. Samta Express, from Hazrat Nizamuddin (New Delhi) to Vizag - is now named the Vizag Steel Samta Express.

The RINL has chosen to promote its brand image through Railways as it is the most cost-effective medium to promote a product, a senior RINL official said.

Union Minister of Steel Chaudhary Birender Singh flagged off the train in New Delhi on Thursday morning along with Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu.

A RINL release stated here that the train renamed as Vizag Steel Samta Express was flagged off at Nizamuddin station by Prabhu and Singh in the presence of RINL Chairman and Managing Director P. Madhusudan.

Praising Vizag Steel for taking proactive steps to promote its products through the Railways, the Steel Minister said such initiatives would not only help Vizag Steel extend its market reach to both urban and rural markets, but would also go a long way in increasing the nation’s steel consumption.

Suresh Prabhu said other public sector enterprises should also make use of the Railways with its vast reach to promote their products.

Madhusudan said the RINL was also in the process of taking up manufacture of import substitution products for railways in line with government’s initiative of ‘Make in India.’
