The diesel price cut by ₹2.01 a litre with effect from midnight Sunday is set to push down truck transport freight charges on trunk routes in the next few days as cargo availability from all sectors continued to be weak in June and July, said SP Singh, Senior Fellow, IFTRT.
The arrival of vegetables and fruits into Agricultural Price Marketing Committees in the past four weeks has further dropped by 25 per cent and heavy rains have curtailed the operation of the trucking business.
Additionally, August doesn’t hold better prospects for the transport sector.
