Taxi aggregator service Uber will extend its car-pooling /ride sharing service – “uberPOOL” – to Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai. Competing service Ola has a similar offering in “Ola Share”.
uberPOOL enables people going the same way at the same time to share their journey--bringing carpooling at the tap of a button.
Since the launch of uberPOOL in Delhi and Bangalore just over 6 months ago, twenty five per cent of all trips in the two cities are now on uberPOOL, Uber said in a release.
“Getting more people in fewer cars make riders paying less. Even drivers spend less idle time between rides (trips),” Amit Jain, President Uber India was quoted in the release.
