The export-import traffic through the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam in Kochi has seen a steep rise in the past couple of months, says DP World, which operates the facility.
This has put ICTT on a growth trajectory, DP World Cochin said in a statement. It also said ICTT had shown steady positive growth for the past seven consecutive months. It had handled 51 vessels in August, 52 in September and 58 in October.
There was a 16 per cent increase in volume year-on-year and an improved month-on-month throughput for the last seven months.
The ICTT now had container handling efficiency of an average move of 30 gross crane rate per hour. With more and more vessels visiting Kochi, the connectivity which the facility offers is among the best in South India, DP World claimed.
