Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that the aircraft museum on the beach road will be a major tourist attraction in addition to the submarine museum INS Kurusura.
He was speaking here on Tuesday evening after unveiling a plaque at the museum. The TU-142 fighter aircraft of the Navy, which retired from service in May this year after 29 years, has been placed on a specially erected platform and it is being converted into a museum.
To open in DecemberThe greater part of the work has been completed, and the museum will be ready by December. The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) and the State government are spending ₹10 crore on the project.
The CM described it as a Deepavali gift to the people of the city. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa and Vice-Admiral HCS Bisht, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command.
New flyoverEarlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone for the construction of a flyover at NAD Kotta Road and asserted that it would be completed in 24 months. The double rotary flyover will be constructed at a cost of Rs 113 crore and the contract has been awarded to city-based construction company, Vijay Nirman.
The CM also inaugurated a lounge at the airport earlier.
