There has been an increase of 3 per cent in the gross budgetary support given to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for 2018-19 as against 2017-18.
Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, on Tuesday said, “₹41,765 crore has been allocated to the Ministry during 2018-19 as against ₹40, 617 crore during 2017-18 which translates into an increase of nearly 3 per cent in gross budgetary support”.
He added, “The outlay for PMAY (Urban) has been increased by ₹25,000 crore in the extra budgetary resources for the implementation of PMAY in the financial year 2018-19. It will be raised outside general Budget”. For 2018-19, PMAY (Urban) got Budgetary support of ₹6,500 crore, an enhancement of 520 per cent over previous year, said the press release. “Around 37.45 lakh dwelling units in 7,474 projects with an investment of ₹2,03,752 crore involving central assistance of ₹57, 681 crore have been accepted under PMAY in the last 31 months. Of this, 19.49 lakh houses have been grounded and 3,19,648 houses have already been completed. A total of 2,78,267 houses have been occupied,” said Puri
An amount of ₹6169 crore has been allocated under the Smart Cities Mission during 2018-19, which is a hike of 54.2 per cent over last year’s allocation, said the press release.
