A delegation of the Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI) met the Union Minister for Steel, Mines, Labour and Employment Narendra Singh Tomar on Tuesday evening.

The delegation, led by the President of FIMI, H C Daga, gave an hour-long presentation on the perspective of mining industry and the expectations from the government. The Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Dr. Anup K. Pujari was also present at the meeting.

According to FIMI member, during the interaction, the industry body requested the ministry to take steps for enhancing exploration and exploitation of mineral resources in the country.

FIMI also stressed that while meeting the need of domestic industry, export also needs to be encouraged.

Narendra Singh Tomar said that government is keen in bringing about a transparent policy for exploitation of mineral resources of the country and the mineral industry's suggestions will help in formulating a policy on mining.

He also said that Government will coordinate with all stakeholders so that the interests of environmental and rehabilitation issues are also adequately addressed along with exploitation.
